I Wish You Were Ugly (A Short Romance Story 1)

A short story of love and Romance

I slid the ring into her finger. It was the happiest moment of her life, you could easily tell by looking at her, through the spotless veil that covered her glimmering face, her cute dentistry shone out, the gap in between the incisors scarcely hidden by the veil.
I met her a virgin, I know because I broke her, that night, she cried on me after it all, she was sad she had lost her most priced asset but she was happy it was me. I was happy I have finally found that rib God took from me and I wasn't prepared to let anyone else take it, I couldn't wait to be complete, she made me feel whole, I was happy about it all but I was sad also, sad that I may not be able to treat her how she deserved to be treated.
Jessica was the only girl who had managed to stick with me for very long, other girls came and left like the ones in my life before them, they leave after sometime only to keep coming back and leaving again. As I looked into her eyes, I never regretted putting that ring on her, she was to die for and I meant it literally.

"You are eventually walking the aisle?" Anita asked me, caressing the hairs on my broad chest as we lay on the bed inside her pent house in Park View Hotel, our naked bodies covered by the beautiful flower patterned sheets.
"Yea, in two months." I replied, inhaling the sweet fragrance from her long blond hair.
"Are you leaving all these?" she asked adjusting her head on my shoulder and regarding the both of us with her left hand as "All these."
"Will you ever let me be?" I asked turning to look her in the eye, the beautiful blue eyes that always got to me each time I gazed upon them.
She smiled and panted a kiss on my lips.
"Quite a pity we lost each other and quite a pity it's all your fault," she whispered and curled the hairs on my chest with her fingers.
"It wasn't exactly my fault, you were unnecessarily jealous," I replied back in whisper and she pulled at my chest hairs, I "ouched" from a little sting.
"Jealous, yea right I was jealous, agreed, but unnecessarily? Jason you were sleeping with your ex for Christ's sake, every single negative emotion I felt was necessary dear."
"And how do you feel now?" I asked, gauging her face for reactions.
"How I feel? About you getting married?"
I nodded
"Well, nothing's changed, I knew we could never be together and I'm glad I found that out earlier, Jay you are an all time Cheat."
She let out a laugh and passed it on to me. We laughed and cuddled to each other
"So you don't mind my getting married?"
She shook her head in the negative and I smiled.

"I don't mind, I know you will always be running back to me." she said softly and pecked my cheek. I pulled her up and closer to me and engaged her a deep kiss, we held onto each other until the buzzing of my phone interrupted us, we reluctantly separated and I reached out for my phone on the tiled floor.
The screen displayed Jessica, I eyed Anita who was supporting her head with her right hand and observing me with admiration written all over her face.
"I have to take this." I mouthed and sat up on the bed to take the call.
"Hello dear," I bassed into the mouthpiece and her ever refreshing voice came up from the other end.
"Baby I think I found the perfect wedding gown for me." she shouted excitedly
"Really? Where is that?"
"A boutique mom took me to, you should come and see it, I also found a suit for you."
You could easily feel the excitement all over her voice
"Errm, I can't make it now, could we fix an appointment for another day?"
Anita scratched my back as I gave my excuses.
"Okay, but I'm so loving this gown and the suit I found for you is just too good, you are going to love it!" she iterated with so much enthusiasm.
"I'm sure I will sweetheart."
"Yea, talk to you later baby, I love you," she squealed out, all feverish with love. I smiled and returned her kiss over the phone
"She loves you," Anita commented as I dropped the phone on the bedside stool.
"I love her," I replied, getting back to her on the bed, she held me down and dropped her head on my chest once more.
"I wish you two the best," she murmured in her sweet voice.
"Really?" I asked, trying to get her assurance that she held nothing against us, Rita was one very unpredictable lady, at 28, she had everything except a man of her own, I used to be that man until my load of baggage got in the way, my ex, my promiscuity and a load of others.
She was all any man would want but she chose to be with me, like the ones that came before her even with my wedding coming up. I was helpless against her charisma and she couldn't resist mine.
"No, seriously I do. What's the need of keeping you when I wouldn't want to wear your ring."
"Keeping me? Really?" I asked trying to wrap my mind around her concept of keeping me, like I couldn't leave if I wanted to.
"Yes love, why do we keep running back to each other when we can't even be together anymore?"
I left that question unanswered, she needed no answer either, it was already clear to each of us.
"It's 4:30 pm already, I have to go," I said, pulling myself away from her and the bed.
"So where are you going now?" She asked, lying up on the bed and supporting her jaws with both her hands.
"I have a wedding to plan," I replied, zipping up my trouser and locking my belt. She watched me dress up like it was totally a new thing to her, she always watches me like that.
"So am I invited?"
"Hmm, where?" I asked absent-minded, trying to attach my neck tie properly.
"Your wedding of course"
"Oh, yes, it's an open wedding, you will be getting an I. V soon"
"I hope so."
I threw on my dark suit and shot her a smile, she smiled back and threw me a kiss which I replied.
"See you soon handsome."
"Don't count on it," I replied and made my way to the door.
"I will be waiting as always."
Her reply reeked so much of confidence and she wasn't wrong to take that pose, I will be coming back sooner.
I smiled my way out of the room and shut the door behind me.

"You look terribly handsome in that suit," My mother commented as she came over to join us in the family version of the wedding photo shoot.
"And you look wonderful mom" I replied with a broad smile on my face.
"I should look wonderful, it's my only son's happiest day, pity your father isn't around to witness it."
she sobered up at the mention of my father, he had died in a motor accident when I was just a kid, 7 years to be precise and my mom had been single ever then, just so she could bring me up to her taste. She looked wonderful and gorgeous at her age of 51.
"We all miss him mom, don't we?" I asked, positioning myself for the camera, pulling my overly excited wife to myself, she cuddled to me and tugged at my suit excitedly.
"We do miss him." she replied weakly and I nodded before smiling for the camera.
"I told you the suit was perfect dear" Jessica whispered to me and I nodded.
"You are the best darling." I said and held her closer to me.
"Thanks baby." she said and did a pose on me for the camera.

"Hey cutie, can I have a personal with you."
The more than familiar voice of Anita called behind me as I stood shaking hands with my guests. I turned with a broad smile on my face to face her in her red simply tailored but gorgeous gown, matched by a pair of red high heels. Her also red hat which covered a part of her blue eyes, hid a measure of her cute face in an enticing way.
"You look lavishing in that piece," she commended, raining her eyes all over me.
"Thanks dear, my wife sure has a good eyes for fine things." I replied, receiving her embrace.
"I'm sure she does," she replied, still lavishing me with her eyes.
"And hey, how did you manage to hide away all these while, I was only able to set my eyes on you once inside the church."
"I tried to get out of the way, we wouldn't want me to cause any distraction now, would we?" she replied with a cute suggestive smile.
"Not really dear."
She pulled me closer and beckoned on the camera man, he ran straight to us and gave us a few shots. We talked for a while before she took notice of my over excited bride and smiled in her direction where she was busy with everyone asking for a shot.
"She's lucky to have you, lucky and unlucky all in a measure" she whispered and we both smiled.
"What are you trying to say?" I asked.
"Oh you know exactly what I'm trying to say darling," she replied in between a knowing smile.
"When will you be inviting me to your own wedding?" I asked trying to change the subject before it got messy.
"When you are through with me dear," she replied casually and I cast her a shock glance.
"Like I'm holding you for real?"
"You have no Idea Jay."
"I never knew, it could have been you on that altar with me though, you were just to obsessed with your emotions."
"Jay, I would never want to walk any aisle with you, not after everything, I can't live the rest of my life worrying that you might be holed up at a point in time with some girl or ex," she said, throwing her face out of my sight.
"You could have changed me you know?"
"If she couldn't," she started, throwing her face at Jessica "then no one can, I don't want to carry out that experiment dear, it's my fragile heart that's on the line."
"That's funny, you need someone in your life but you wouldn't want to be with him, Anita you are just amazing." I gasped and smiled at Jessica who was beckoning on me with her beautiful eyes.
"Yes dear, I love me that way, it's what's kept me going ever since."
"I think I will be joining my wife, she just can't enough of me today."
She nodded and smiled, I squeezed her hand and she squeezed mine back.
"Come with me, let's take a group photograph." I half pleaded, an idea I had an inkling she was going to reject. She shook her head and I smiled, I only know her too well.
"I'm leaving now" she said all of a sudden and I threw her a glance.
"You won't come to the house with us?"
"No dear, I have things to do."
"If you say so, take care then," I said and she gave me a parting embrace.
"Happy married life handsome," she wished me and turned in the direction of the parking lot, I watched her walk gracefully to her Mercedes G wagon at the parking lot and drive away from the premises, honking back at my wave. I turned around and walked back to my wife for more pictures.

"But baby this is our night" Jessica nagged as I buttoned up my long-sleeved top, the time on the clock was 2:15 am.
"Baby it's just something I need to fix, something very important," I reassured her, picking up my phone from the bed, beside her.
"It can't wait? It's late for Christ's sake and it's not fair on us"
"Baby, I will be back before you even start getting worried, I promise" I consoled her, sitting besides her on the bed and pulling her closer into my arms.
"Well, I'm already worried."
"And you always look beautiful whenever you are."
That brought a smile to her face and I kissed her, getting up from the bed and moving to the door with her gaze trailing me.
"Before the sun comes up, you will find me next to you darling," I said and pulled the door open.
"Before sun up," she warned squeezing her face at me.
"Before sun up," I repeated and walked out the door with a broad smile on my face.

The elevator took me up to the last floor and into the corridors of the pent house, I strode gently to the door and heaved it open.
"I never thought you would make it," Anita said with excitement written all over her. She wore a loose night-gown that let me see through to all her sumptuous details and was lying on the bed with her iPad in her hands.
"I never thought you would call me up on my wedding night," I replied, shutting the door and walking up to her, I planted a kiss on her lipstick bare lips. She got up and undressed me down to my shorts and let her gown fall to the floor rather hurriedly.
"It's very evident we would be may be needing each other for the rest of our lives," she said, holding onto me in a feverish way. I smiled and dropped her gently on the bed, I climbed her and gazed into those blue eyes.
"I wish you were ugly, then it wouldn't have been so hard not to love you." I whispered, she shut her eyes and inhaled deeply.
"Come into me baby!" she moaned.
