The Love That Will Never Die 1

Short Romance story

"It's so hard to believe that a guy like you is still single" Rita whispered as she cuddled up to me on the bed and lay her head on my chest. I stared at the ceiling and smiled.
"Really?" I asked her.
"Yes really" she replied in whispers and continued "I mean, 29 years old, tall, handsome, comfortable...."
"Say rich love, I'm rich" I interrupted her. She looked up and gave me a hard look, I smiled and she went back to her position  and continued ".... Pompous, charming and all, Jay tell me, what's keeping you up the isle?"
"You" I said and kissed her forehead.
She turned around to face me on the bed, wrung her arms around my upper body and brought her face to mine, we came lips to lips, I braced for a kiss, she planted her lips on mine, we smacked and she bit my lips hard, I withdrew my lips and moaned lightly giving her the what-the-fuck-was-that-for look. She turned around to her former position and dropped her whole weight on my body, she was light despite her heavy endowments.
"That was for lying into my face" she finally said after a short silence.
"You know you are the type that can stab me in the face with a smile" I said moving my hand right hand down to her navel and caressing it.
"Why aren't you married? I mean, you are tall, beautiful, sweet, sexy and a hundred yards of wife material, what's keeping you up the isle?" I asked her. She looked at me with a puzzle on her face.
"Me? well, am still in school, a lot of things I haven't done yet, in short I'm not ready" She said.
"Neither am I" I said almost immediately.
"I'm ready when you are ready" I added
"Ooh, I love you so so much much cutie" she said and turned to me on the bed and French kissed me before we went into another round of love making.

I couldn't totally deny the fact that I wasn't being totally honest with her, I wasn't really waiting for her to accompany down the Isle, I loved her truly but then, for some reasons, I seemed to be enjoying our relationship the way it was at that point in time and I had my honest reasons for that.
At 29 years of age, I had gotten a good number of things that I had always dreamed of in my life. Cars, houses, a sizable bank account and the capability to do whatever I wanted and however I wanted to do it. Anybody that could see through the handsome, confident, calm and innocent face would know that I wasn't hundred perfect legit not even up to fifty percent but then, nobody actually saw through it, to them, I just looked too good to be bad.
The Jay Rita loved calling me was coined from my name Jason, a lot of people called me Jay so it wasn't like it was Rita's Idea. A graduate of Law although I wasn't practicing but I had that aura of lawyers all over me, a lot of girls thought that was sexy, I am yet to find out which one they actually find sexy in me, if it was my being a lawyer or my just being me that turned them on. All I knew was that once they had a chance with me, they usually do not like to let go, Rita was one of those girls but I ended up finding out she was different in a way. At a time, we got stuck to each other and she ended up being the only one I kept going back to. But then, the most honest part of me, I don't know which part that was, had always known that I can never take her to the altar, the story just might change over time but then, the chances were as tiny as my capacity to tell people my true story. Despite setbacks in my education, I had managed to leave the University at the age of 24 and proceeded to Law school where I spent two years before being called to bar. My family ran mad with excitement on the very day I came out a full fledged lawyer but for me, I did it just for the name. I sooner took over one of my fathers real estates company immediately after school and after almost running it down with my reckless lifestyle, I was able to recoup through means I couldn't tell to anyone, not that I was ashamed of it, I had since learnt not to be ashamed of whatever pays me big time, but because it was not something I would like going about letting people know. I loved living free and as I liked and this took me so far away from my family, they didn't mind, I was more of a headache than a source of pride to them. My mother called once in a while but my father, the farther I was, the better he was. That arrangement was fine to me. I was a young boss, handing over the business to capable hands, all I did was sit back, enjoy my life and watch the alert come in.

I had met Rita the day I went back to my school to register for my post graduate programs , I was gunning for a masters before I would later move on to PhD. I had often thought that adding a doctor to my tittles wouldn't hurt. I had stepped out into the hot sun from my latest model Mercedes G wagon, one of the luxuries I had acquired from my first year of running my father's firm. Leaving the comfort of my chilly car into the burning atmosphere had hit me like a bee sting. I walked briskly into the faculty of law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka where I wanted to make certain enquiries. Moving into the building had brought shade and solace from the fury of the sun. I walked pass students in the corridor, deliberating on where to make my enquiries. Walking towards an office, I saw a light skinned, beautiful lady, my guess placed her at a little above 35 years old. I approached her with the smartest look on me.
"Excuse me, hello" I called at her as she tried walking past me. She looked back, flashing all her facial beauty into my eyes. Removing the sunshades from my eyes I began talking.
"Please do you work here" I asked knowing fully well that she definitely should be working there.
"Yes?" she said and gave a professional nod while observing my face.
"Actually, I just wanted to enquire on how I can be able to register for my masters here"
"Ok, you would have to go to the school of post graduate studies  over there" she said pointing at an imaginary direction. "That's where you would get all the information you actually need" .
"Oh, thanks so much" I said and shot out my hand for a handshake. She took it up and I massaged her hands more than I shook it, she didn't seem to mind and I was tempted to flirt further with her but I held myself from pushing my luck further. We withdraw our hands and I walked back outside the complex, admiring the magnificent structure one more time. Heading for my car, I stopped half way when I noticed a girl walking towards me. She eyed me casually and smiled, Surprised, I smiled back and stopped her.
"Hello" I said, giving her a charming smile.
"Hi" she smiled back.
"Could you please direct me to the school of post graduate studies?". I knew the place just like I knew the school like the palm of my hand but I needed an excuse to get to know her better. She was indeed charming and I hardly let people like her past me.
"Oh, actually, I have a message for someone in there but you can just walked down there, it's just around the corner"
"Well, I could wait for you in my car over there, I will like you to accompany me there if it won't be much of a bother, you know I have this knack for getting lost" I said and one of those her beautiful smile came up again.
"Okay, I will be back in a moment" she said, I nodded and watched her sway her fine hips into the building, I shrugged and walked down to where I parked my car, my eyes revolved around behind my sunshades as I watched people observe me without knowing that I too was observing them, it was a regular thing for heads to turn each time I walked through, it was something I had become used to. I opened the door to my car and went in. I rolled down my window and sat there waiting for her. I must have waited for about 2 minutes before I saw her walking towards me in a bit of a haste but that didn't disrupt her cat walk one bit. I opened the door for her and she sat beside me.
"Erm, so we move" I muttered out and started the engine. The distance from the faculty of law to the school of post graduate studies wasn't much. I had to deliberately drive slowly to get enough time with her.
"So what level are you?" I asked taking a look at her
"300 level"
"Okay, and your name is?"
"I am Rita, You?"
"Rita, hmmm, well I'm Jason". I said and pulled into the drive way of the PGD school. Pulling up the handbrake and removing my seat belt, I faced her.
"Will you come in with me or would you like to stay back?"
"I think I'll stay back, I doubt if I will find my mate in there" she said and smiled while I laughed. I was already liking her.
"If you feel bored, you can always change the music" I said, switching on the music player and changing the disc to a soft blues. She nodded and I left her in the car.
I was done in an hour and came back to meet her busy on her phone.
"Hope I was fast?" I asked smiling and she laughed.
"Yes, you were very fast" she replied sarcastically and I smiled. I had to drive her straight to her lodge after she had refused an offer of launch from me. With little persuasion, I was able to get her number and I looked forward to meeting her again.
